1 Samuel 8:18-22. And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day. Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, Nay; but we will have a king over us; That we also may be like all the nations; and that our king may judge us, and go out before us, and fight our battles. And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord. And the Lord said to Samuel, Hearken unto their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said unto the men of Israel, Go ye every man unto his city.

Thought for the Day: Be Careful Of What You Ask For; You May Get It

Reflection for the Day: Seek His Will, Not Yours

As Samuel neared the end of his life the people cried out for a King. They wanted to be like the other nations. Ignoring the warnings of their decision, they persisted in their prayer; give us a King. They sought their will, not God's. With their cries continuing, they received their King and then learned to regret their decision.

Prayer has power. It allows us to reach the Lord and seek those things He desires for us.  Unfortunately, there are times we ignore His leading and seek our own will. As you pray, allow the Spirit to direct your prayers. He knows what you should be seeking and what blessings God has for you. Don't position
your self to a place where God gives you what "you" asked for and then regret it. Seek His will, not yours.
