Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, instructs the reader how to react to evil. Recognizing that no one escapes encountering negative forces, he exhorts the child of God not to be overcome with evil, but rather, to overcome evil through the strength of goodness. He makes it quite clear not only what behavior should be followed but also the power of good.
No one lives a life without coming under the attack of others. Enemies are a part of life. Regardless of how vicious the attack might be, you have the power to overcome. As you act with goodness and depend on the grace of God, you have the power to conquer all. Good has authority over evil.
